The pretty and the kitty

Greetings, I have been around but occupado with a lot of hand-sewing, which makes me mental and crazy. But the good news is: All done, and I’ll show off what I’ve been doing next week. In a word: purses. With hand-sewn interfacing and lining. Ugh.

Last Saturday, Jon and I went to Miami for Super Con, which is like Comic Con in San Diego only pathetic. Last year we had fun, this year, the magic was gone. But, if you walked down autograph row, the dude who plays Don Draper’s dad on Mad Men was there, along with Maryann from Gilligan’s Island. Just don’t ask me why.

I did go to another knitting store before, because I have a husband who will take me. The Knitting Garden in Coral Gables is small but has a wonderful selection, and I enjoyed the short time I spent there. Jon bought me some lovely Misti Alpaca Pima Silk the looks like a Rainbow Nation flag, and I got the new Amy Butler book, because that bitch doesn’t have enough money already, amirite?

Don’t let this jumper on the cover fool you, there are some winners inside.

I also spend a few days (non-consecutive) with my mother this week. Although my father makes it difficult, I will not be denied the joy of being with my mom. I guess that requires an explanation and I’m not prepared to give one. Sigh. BUT, my mother is 1000 times more talented than I, and is making me a quilt for my birthday. It has a lot more detail work to come, but here are some preliminary shots:

I really don’t have any words for how impressed I am.

Not much planned this weekend; but I am going to a job fair on Monday. Wish me luck? I can’t wait to stand out in the heat and melt whilst my resume wilts. But we do what we must.

I also want to see this movie, which is finally here.

I’ll cross everything I possibly can for you and your job fair tomorrow.

The quilt is just lovely! What a special and precious gift. Let’s talk soon, my dear.
