If you get it wrong….

Get it right next time…

RIP Gerry Rafferty. I am/was/is a big fan. Always sad to see a 70s fave die of liver failure brought on by the drink. Sigh.
You may prefer “Stuck in the Middle” or “Baker Street,” but I always liked this one.

I mean, seriously, someone even felt the need to do THIS.

CHILD PLEASE. That book stares me in the face every day at work. Better than Glenn Beck, I guess.

Bye Gere Bear, you will be missed!

Pressure

I think it’s sad when I happen on blogs I used to read and see they haven’t posted in months. So, hello there, I am one of those people.

Working the holiday season in retail means never having to say you have a soul or a life, and it’s over but yet, it’s not. My schedule will never be normal again (it seems) and today I got a huge scare. If you read Facebook you already know…but I’ve been feeling lightheaded and dizzy for about a week. After complaining and bitching, I finally almost passed out in Target. And if you’re going to go, why not go in a SuperTarget?

I went to the drugstore to check my blood pressure, and it was 165/90. Which is really, really high. And I’ve never had high blood pressure before in my life. My doctor agreed to see my right away, I’m now on some meds, and we’ll see what happens. Bottom line, I’ve been eating horribly I know, but he thinks it’s job stress. I KNOW!

So anyway, the year of 2010 is over, and it did sucketh mayhap a little less than 2009? It’s hard to say. All I do is work, eat and sleep. That’s it, kids. I did manage to go see Black Swan by myself on a Monday afternoon before Christmas, and though it wasn’t my favorite movie of the year (I’ve not seen enough to have a top ten list, so the point is moot!) it was extremely good. I swooned over the costumes and some of the knits by the design team, Rodarte.

Even though this scarf is a little too "the place I used to work," there's enough deconstruction in it to be interesting.

I also found these sketches…J’adore!

So anyway, I do recommend it highly, but I came at it, and came away from it, with a highly feminist take, so put that in your Swan Lake and smoke it. Your mileage may vary.

For the record, my favorite movie I saw last year was Exit Through the Gift Shop. I predict it will be nominated for Best Documentary, but lose.

And working at a (cough, gag, cough) book shop like I do — and I use that term VERY loosely, the book I enjoyed reading last year the most was this one:

I’m super serious not joking. You need Alison’s book in your life. It’s funny and sad and tragic and happy and so much better than all the James Patterson crap the average Joe and Jane who comes in our store reads. UGH!

And of course I’ve already said I floved the Robert Plant CD “Band of Joy”…Well, Imma say it again. I even love some of the album artwork!

Not enough to get it into a tattoo, though. Although I have been thinking about getting another.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you I spent the year watching my favorite TV shows, Hoarders and now, American Pickers, and frankly, they need to do a cross-promotional tour. Hey, next week is the season finale of Hoarders, and the guy they profile is a rat collector who has 2,500 rats. A real-life Willard! And ladies, he’s single.

I am not joking.

Finally, here’s a video I found on a list of best videos of the year. It’s from a Contemporary Christian band, and maybe that’s not your thing, but it does do for the Lite Brite what the White Stripes’ “Fell in Love With a Girl” did for Legos. We need more stuff like this. Enjoy!
